Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed positive with coronavirus. He is currently in prison as he was convicted of rape and sexual assault.

Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, informed that Harvey Weinstein is currently in isolation.

Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison as he was convicted of rape and sex offense.

Harvey Weinstein is being held at Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo in upstate New York.

An officer told the international news agency that 2 prisoners at the facility were diagnosed positive with the virus on Sunday.

Michael Powers informed the international news agency that many staff members have been quarantined. He showed his concern for the correction officers as they lack protective equipment, according to Mr. Powers.

A lawyer for Weinstein said that his legal team was unaware of the virus diagnosis.

Imran Ansari said, “Given Mr. Weinstein’s state of health, we are of course concerned, if this is the case, and we are vigilantly monitoring the situation.”

The former film producer was convicted of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping former actress Jessica Mann in 2013. He was ordered by the judge to send him to jail immediately.

He was accused of sexual assault by at least 80 women in the past years, including actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Uma Thurman, and Salma Hayek.
