Ali Zafar’s legal team takes action against Women’s March

The Women’s March wrote an objection letter to the president of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi for awarding singer Ali Zafar with the Pride of Performance Award. In response, Ali Zafar’s legal team took action against them.

According to the response of the legal team, the letter written by the Women’s March to the President of Pakistan has been misrepresented and called the Women’s March is a campaign to defame Ali Zafar after he was honored with the Pride of Performance Award.

As there are no cases pending against Ali Zafar, his legal team stated that”It is unfortunate that the organization working for women’s rights is becoming part of the defamation campaign.” However, Meesha Shafi’s case is still pending on behalf of Ali Zafar.

According to the legal team, the harassment complaint filed by Mesha Shafi has been dismissed by the Provincial Ombudsman, Governor Punjab, and Lahore High Court, while the contempt case of Mesha Shafi has been stayed by the court. Ali Zafar has also filed a defamation suit of Rs 1 billion against Mesha Shafi.
