‘Loose Talk‘, one of the most famed chat show, between the legendary Moin Akhtar and playwright Anwar Maqsood faced discontinuation after Akhtar’s death but has now resumed with actor Yasir Hussain as the guest.
The show, Loose Talk is still one of the talked-about shows to date. In each new episode, Akhtar would give interviews in the guise of different characters. Whatever the subject was, Moin Akhtar never failed to deliver his character and the viewers could not help but burst into laughter.
While the videos and memes of the iconic show still circulating on social media from time to time. However, a new show with the same concept is being aired titled ‘Mere Aangan Se’, hosted by Anwar Maqsood and Yasir Hussain replacing late Moin Akhtar as the guest.
The first episode, released on YouTube, is a commentary on how Pakistanis have no regard for the coronavirus SOPs. Hussain, clad in a white kurta shalwar, played a prestigious man who has invited 2,000 people to his daughter’s wedding.
On Instagram, Maqsood shared the promo of the show in which Hussain plays different characters.

Fans were very quick to respond and are actually irked over Hussain and Maqsood’s new show. Yasir has previously worked with the renowned poet in Aangan Tehra but fans are not having it.
A user wrote, “The year 2020 has been bad for many and ironically, Maqsood is launching a show like the popular Loose Talk in which Yasir Hussain will replace Moin Akhtar. This is an insult to the legendary actor. No one can take his place!”

One more lamented that Pakistan is not bringing out any great talent in comedy. “People who have talent in comedy are confined to the small screen and those who do not have the ability to act are coming on the big screen,” he said.
Another user went on to add, “Omar Sharif and Shakeel Afridi could have been good choices, instead of Yasir Hussain, to replace Moin Akhtar in this show as these two actors are also legends.”

Moreover, Loose Talk had received inspiration from BBC World Service’s popular show Hard Talk.
An episode of the show in which Akhtar had played the role of a harmonium player went viral on social media in 2019. The episode has generated a lot of memes too and around 24 million views on YouTube.
