Ejaz Durrani, a senior actor of the Pakistani film industry and husband of late Madam Noor Jahan, has passed away at the age of 88 after suffering a long illness.
According to the family, Ejaz Durrani had been ill for a long time. After Ejaz Durrani’s funeral prayers, Zuhr prayers will be offered in Garden Town.
Ejaz Durrani had played the role of Ranjha in the film ‘Heer Ranjha’.
The legendary actor was born in 1935 in a village near Jalalpur Jattan. He was introduced as a supporting actor in director Manshi Dal’s film ‘Hamida’, released in 1956.
He was also a side hero in filmmaker Dawood Chand’s Urdu film ‘Mirza Sahib’. However, his first film as a hero was in the 1957 release ‘Bada Aadmi’, which was directed by Humayun Mirza.
Apart from being a successful box office actor, Ejaz Durrani proved to be a very successful distributor and a master of planning with excellent skills in the art of filmmaking.
Producing films like ‘Dosti’, ‘Heer Ranjha’ and ‘Shola’ are to his credit as a filmmaker.
He first got married to actress and singer Noor Jehan and second to Firdous, but both marriages ended in divorce.
