Britney Spears will have to wait a bit longer for a ruling on her appeal to have her father dismissed as her estate’s guardian.
The appeal from Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart to postpone the hearing date from September 29 to August 23 was denied by Judge Brenda Penny, who is handling her case.
The judgment comes two days after Jamie Spears filed court paperwork stating that Spears’ personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery, told her that she was “mentally ill” and might need to be taken to a psychiatric facility.
The hearing will also determine if certified public accountant Jason Rubin is qualified to serve as Spears’ conservator.
Earlier, Britney Spears‘ doctor has requested that Jamie Spears, Britney’s father, be legally removed from conservatorship.
Britney’s conservator, Jodie Montgomery, alleges in new court records that the singer’s doctors agree that Jamie should be removed from all legal and financial affairs involving her.
Jodi “respectfully notes that Britney Spears’s medical team agrees that it is not in the best interest of [Britney] for Jamie Spears to be and remain conservator of the estate,” the document states.
“She recognizes and agrees [he] is eminently qualified and who she believes understands his duties and obligations to act in the best interests of [Britney],” per the doc, which also states that Jodi “believes in good faith” that Britney’s bestsument interests are served by removing Jamie and appointing Jason Rubin in his place, as requested by Britney.
