Wedding on the cards for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
Things appear to be heating up quickly between Ben Affleck and Jennifer...
Director Kevin Smith mused on the origins of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s renowned nickname “Bennifer.”
The acclaimed director has revealed important details about Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s relationship.
During an interview with The Daily Beast, Smith responded to their nickname ‘Bennifer,’ and explained how he came up with it while working on the 2004 film Jersey Girl.
“A dubious honor at best, man. Most people out there, including Ben and Jen themselves.”
Smith had previously stated how the term was frequently used in the production of the film. During filming, he frequently asked, “Where’s Bennifer?” “They’re in the trailer,” someone might respond.
Since then, Bennifer has been a phenomenon, and since their revived romance, the couple has been referred to by the nickname more than ever.
Smith also revealed how the name was first printed on paper. “I was talking to someone from the L.A. Times and doing an interview after we wrapped,” the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back actor said. “And I was like, ‘Bennifer.’ And then it showed up in print and started being everywhere,” he said.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were dating in 2002 and were set to marry until they called off their wedding plans a few days before the big day in 2003.
