During the first match between India and New Zealand in Kanpur, a video of a man named Shobit Pandey conversing on the phone while eating Gutka — a chewing tobacco mixture – went viral.

Shobit was caught on camera chewing ‘gutkha’ while on the phone, which created a flurry of humorous memes on social media.

Many famous people, including former Indian Cricketer Wasim Jaffer, have commented on the ‘Gutka man’ viral video.

Shobit, a Kanpur citizen, claimed he was disturbed by all the unwanted attention he received on social media after becoming the talk of the town. In the video, the internet sensation also refused to eat tobacco.

In an interview with an Indian news outlet, he stated, “I would like to clarify that I was not eating tobacco.” I was eating betel nuts and talking on the phone with a friend who was also watching the play from a different stand in the same stadium.
