The most cherished name on the internet today is Arooj Aftab’s after she became Pakistan’s first best new artist nomination at the prestigious Grammy Awards.

The Grammys nominated the singer’s song Mohabbat from her album Vulture Prince. The song has been a smashing hit that it even made to former US president Barack Obama’s 2021 summer playlist.
The Pakistani singer took to Twitter on Wednesday and expressed her feelings with gratitude. “Shock awe and happiness”, wrote Aftab.

The Mohabbat singer’s post garners all praising and motivating comments as Pakistanis feel proud for the first local artist who has successfully carved her way to the most celebrated music awards.

Aftab has earned nominations in two different categories; Best New Artist, and the Best Global Music Album for her ‘Vulture Prince’.

The Pakistani singer was born in Saudi Arabia and later moved to Pakistan where she started her musical career exploring the indie genre.
She became popular in Pakistan with her covers on Youtube – from Amir Zaki’s ‘Mera Pyar’ to Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb’ to Leonard Cohan’s ‘Hallelujah.’
