Bravo has also announced a new series called RHONY: Throwback or RHONY: Legacy, which will include some of the most well-known New York Housewives.
The Real Housewives of New York City will undergo significant changes.
Andy Cohen revealed to a newspaper on Wednesday that Bravo is “rebooting and recasting” the series for the forthcoming season with the aim of obtaining a more diverse group of ladies. There have been no more casting announcements.
“You know that we’re at a crossroads for RHONY,” Cohen told the newspaper. “We’ve spent a lot of time figuring out where to go. And the plan that we’ve come up with, I think, is a real gift to the fans.”
Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Leah McSweeney, and newcomer Eboni K. Williams appeared in Season 13 of RHONY. While no formal casting news has been released, Cohen has stated that the programme is beginning from the ground up.
“This is a significant casting call. We’ll be casting all throughout Manhattan and the boroughs – spreading the word is part of the quest,” he added.
“And when you start from zero, Beverly Hills had a tremendously successful season one cast, Jersey had a really successful season one cast, and Salt Lake City had a really successful season one cast.”
Cohen continued, “I think it will be the rainbow that is New York City. That’s the goal.”
Cohen did, however, hint at Williams’ potential comeback. “We’re doing interviews with many groups of friends. So, if Eboni is interested and has friends that fulfil our casting criteria, they will undoubtedly be considered “He stated.
Season 13 featured continuous antagonism between Singer and Williams, with the two women frequently engaging in intense debates over race and politics.
Following the show’s conclusion, a source told that Bravo started an internal inquiry after allegations of racism within the group were lodged. “Cast and production personnel were examined, but the probe was terminated after nothing noteworthy was discovered,” stated the source.
According to the source, the probe was one of the reasons the season 13 reunion was postponed and then cancelled.
Along the announcement of a casting change for the upcoming season 14 of RHONY, Bravo also revealed a new series, tentatively titled RHONY: Throwback or RHONY: Legacy, that would showcase some of the most adored New York Housewives.
Although no casting selections have been made, the series leaves the door open for Singer, de Lesseps, Morgan, and others to remain connected with the network. It’s also possible that fan favourites Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin may make a comeback.
“I think we want to get the cast right,” Cohen stated of the upcoming show.
“All we want is to get it correctly. So that’s where the attention is right now. I don’t want to push out a manufacturing deadline. Because I want this to succeed; it means too much to too many people.”
“I could tell you about hypothetical circumstances involving a number of characters from the programme,” he continued. “I think the good news is that they’re still in one other’s lives.”
