Zoe Kravitz came to Instagram on Tuesday evening to discreetly criticise Will Smith for hitting Chris Rock at Sunday’s 94th Academy Awards, following the comedian’s contentious joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s appearance.

“And here is a picture of my outfit at the party after the award presentation —where we are presumably yelling profanities and attacking people on stage now,” the “Big Little Lies” star, 33, captioned a photo from the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty.

Kravitz, who presented at the Oscars and is now acting in “Batman,” posted another shot from the ceremony: “here’s a picture of my outfit during the show where we are reportedly attacking people on stage now.”

While several backed Kravitz and her perspective, with some followers congratulating Kravitz for “calling it what it was,” a sizable portion of her 8 million followers did not.

Others begged Kravitz to delete the caption, while another, upon seeing it repurposed, said: “the caption again?? literally can’t defend it wtf.”

“Girl you having your moment after how many years don’t ruin it to be a narc,” implored one user.

“Don’t forget to disrespect people’s spouses,” said another.

Shortly before accepting the best actor Oscar for his part in “King Richard,” Smith, 53, rushed on stage and smacked Rock, 57, after the latter referred to Pinkett Smith as “G.I. Jane 2” because of her bald head. The “Red Table Talk” presenter, 50, has previously stated that she suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss.

Smith posted to Instagram on Monday to apologise to Rock for his “out of line” outburst, explaining that he was merely acting to defend his wife.

“I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be,” he continued. “There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
