Elisabeth Moss, star of The Handmaid’s Tale, opens out about becoming a Scientologist

Elisabeth Moss recently revealed that she is a Scientologist and defended the fact that it is not what people think it is.

The Shirley actress stated in her first long interview with the New Yorker that it is not a “closed-off religion.”

“It’s a location that is extremely open to, like, inviting in someone who wants to learn more about it,” she added. That, I believe, is the aspect that is most misunderstood.”

Scientology has long been seen as a divisive religion due to charges of mind control and other misconduct made by a handful of Church members.

People have preconceived beliefs about the organisation, and because she has been a devotee of this religion for years, people will make “assumptions about her,” according to the Mad Men actress.

She explained, “I don’t feel the need to justify my links to the organisation.”

“I don’t want people to be distracted by something when they’re watching me,” Moss continued.
Those who think “Scientology is analogous to the totalitarian state in her popular series The Handmaid’s Tale (THT)” have also been slammed by the 39-year-old actress.

According to the magazine, the Invisible Man star was moved by the concert because “it advocates religious freedom and fight against a theocracy, which is essential to me.”

Furthermore, the Emmy Award-winning actress credited religion with helping her become a “great communicator,” which she put to good use in her acting profession.
