Meghan Markle raved over Prince Harry when discussing the royal’s efforts to assist organise the current edition of the Invictus Games. The Duchess of Sussex told visitors in a moving introduction that the Duke spent days trying to ensure the games, which had to be postponed due to the epidemic, could be “excellent” for all of them. “He’s spent many late nights and early mornings creating these activities to make them as wonderful as possible for everyone of you,” Meghan explained.

“I couldn’t love and respect him more, and I know you all do since he’s a fellow veteran with two tours of duty in Afghanistan and ten years of military service.

“He founded the Invictus Games and is the father of our two children, Archie and Lili.

“Please join me in welcoming my beautiful husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.”

Before making his own address to athletes and visitors, Prince Harry shared a sweet moment with wife Meghan, exchanging a pleased grin and a kiss before walking off stage.

The Duke’s address was briefly delayed when the prince and former Army Captain received a standing ovation from the audience.

Prince Harry, who helped develop the games in 2014, was visibly moved as he glanced over the audience at the hundreds of competitors from all around the globe who were competing for the first time in in four years.

The next Invictus Games were slated to take place in The Hague in the spring of 2020, but the coronavirus epidemic caused organisers to postpone the event.

He said: “Your bravery in choosing to come and for being here tonight cannot be overstated.

“You told me when you decided to join us despite all odds you came to be on this global stage not simply to show your strength but to tell your truth.

“The truth of what is happening in your country. You know we stand with you, the world is united with you, and still you deserve more.

“My hope is this event creates the opportunity and [show] how we as a global community can better show up for you.”
