Meghan Markle has royal circles in doubt ‘whether we’ll ever see her again’ in UK

Meghan Markle’s choice of ‘upbeat’ wedding song revealed

Meghan Markle has not returned to the United Kingdom since her and Prince Harry’s final function as working members of the Royal Family in 2020. Despite remaining in the UK, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex established their new family home in California after a brief stay in Canada. However, with Meghan having severed practically all of her remaining ties to the United Kingdom, Daily Express royal journalist Richard Palmer questions whether she will ever return to England.

“She’s breaking relationships with British charities, there’s just one left now, Smart Works,” Mr Palmer told Royal Roundup anchor Pandora Forsyth.

“I’m not sure if that patronage will continue.

“The harsh reality is that she and Harry are based in the United States.”

“For the time being, they remain residents in the UK,” he said, “but some in royal circles are unsure if we’ll ever see Meghan in the UK again.”

“I’m sure Harry will return at some point.” He’ll probably spend some time in the UK when he comes to Holland for the Invictus Games.”

On Wednesday, the animal rescue organisation Mayhew announced that Meghan Markle would no longer serve as their patron.

The announcement came after the Duchess acknowledged the death of her close friend Oli Juste, prompting Mayhew’s chief executive Howard Bridges to declare she had “generously donated a contribution in remembrance” of her great friend.

“Although we have mutually agreed not to extend the patronage, The Duchess will continue to support Mayhew and champion our ambitions,” Mr Bridges added.

“Her excitement for our cause has motivated many more individuals to support and give to our organisation, which saves dogs and cats from abuse and neglect, assists local pet owners in distress, and finds loving and forever homes for abandoned animals.”

Mayhew was specifically picked by the Duchess of Sussex as one of the first charities she became a patron of when she officially joined the Royal Family in 2019.

Meghan Markle is a well-known animal welfare enthusiast who has previously acquired rescue dogs.

She and Prince Harry are the proud owners of a beagle named Guy and a black labrador named Pula.

Despite her relocation to the United States, Meghan allegedly kept in touch with Mayhew to stay up to know on their community efforts.

“The Duchess is in touch and working with Mayhew at this time,” an insider close to the Duchess said at the time.

“Many people may be unaware of the breadth of Mayhew’s work. It’s not your typical animal charity. They also help so many other people in the community.”

The Duchess told the charity’s CEO Caroline Yates last year that her dogs had played a significant role in her life during the pandemic.

Ms Yates said: “Whenever we talk to the Duchess about the charity, she always references how important her dogs are and what a support they are, particularly during everything that’s happened this year, with COVID, and with the personal trials and tribulations she went through this year.”
