The actor will feature in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a series created by Jon Watts, the filmmaker of the Spider-Man trilogy, and Christopher Ford, the writer of Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Watts’ project, which had been running under the codename Grammar Rodeo, was given an official title — Star Wars: Skeleton Crew — during Star Wars Celebration.

The series has been rumoured on Star Wars fan sites for months, and Law’s involvement in the Star Wars world was first reported in April. Grammar Rodeo is a reference to an episode of The Simpsons in which Bart and his classmates steal a car and go away for a week under the guise of attending a school function, according to a recent Vanity Fair feature on the condition of Star Wars. It was also regarded as having the feel of a classic 1980s Amblin coming-of-age adventure picture.

The narrative is set in the New Republic era, and tells of a group of youths trapped in the Star Wars galaxy seeking to find their way home, according to the facts disclosed during Thursday’s Lucasfilm presentation.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will executive produce the series, which will begin filming this summer. The specifics of Law’s personality are kept under wraps.

Law has added Star Wars to his list of big-name franchises to support. The actor is most known for his role as Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts prequel series, the third instalment of which, The Secrets of Dumbledore, was published earlier this spring.

In the 2019 Marvel Studios film Captain Marvel, he portrays a villain. He’ll next be seen as Captain Hook in Disney’s live-action film Peter Pan & Wendy, which will be released later this year.
