Brad Pitt claims Angelina Jolie “sought to inflict injury” on him by selling her part in their co-owned vineyard to a Russian tycoon.
The sale aided in the initiation of a “hostile” takeover of the actor’s “carefully built” wine business, forcing him to collaborate with “a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions.”

In 2008, the former Hollywood power couple bought a majority stake in Chateau Miraval SA, a French corporation with a residence and vineyard in the south of France.
Angelina Jolie’s lawyers claimed that under his leadership, the company had evolved into a “multimillion-dollar international success story,” despite the fact that she had “contributed nothing.”
She sold her stock to a Luxembourg-based spirits producer operated by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler without Brad’s knowledge, according to the lawsuit.
“Through the purported sale, Jolie sought to inflict harm on Pitt,” documents filed last week and obtained by the PA news agency said.
“Jolie knew and intended that Shefler and his affiliates would try to control the business Pitt had built and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval.”
It added that Shefler “has gained notoriety through cutthroat business tactics and dubious professional associations” and the association with him “jeopardises the reputation of the brand Pitt so carefully built”.
“All of this is the direct result of Jolie’s unlawful and tortious conduct,” the documents claim.
“In violation of the parties’ agreement, Jolie has sought to force Pitt into partnership with a stranger, and worse yet, a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions.”
The Miraval estate, near the commune of Correns in south-eastern France, was purchased for roughly 25 million euros (£20,875,500) by the couple.
According to legal records obtained by the PA news agency, Brad contributed 60% of the purchase price, with Angelina contributing the remaining 40%.
The wine business at the estate is also thriving, according to lawyers, and “while she benefited from Miraval’s success, Angelina had no involvement in these efforts.”

In January 2021, five years after filing for divorce, Angelina reportedly notified Brad of her plan to sell to Shefler, stating she had made a “difficult decision, with a heavy heart.”
Brad’s lawyers have asked for a jury trial.
