One thing George R.R. Martin, who directed the Game of Thrones reveal sequel’s working title, mentioned was that it was Harington who came up with the concept for the new programme, echoing what series actress Emilia Clarke had revealed.

The author, who Time magazine once dubbed the “American Tolkien,” also disclosed that Snow is just half staffed.

The self-described “way too busy” George R.R. Martin wrote, “Yes, it was Kit Harrington (sic) who brought the idea to us,” he added, “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”

SNOW has been in development for almost as long as the other three, but for whatever reason, neither it nor any leaks had ever been made public before, according to Martin.

The three previously mentioned “Game of Thrones” spinoffs now in production are 10,000 Ships, directed by Amanda Segal; 9 Voyages, sometimes known as Sea Snake; and the Dunk and Egg prequel series, written by Steve Conrad and named either The Hedge Knight or Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The first prequel series, titled “House of the Dragon,” will debut on August 21 and stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

Earlier, George R.R. Martin, the author of the novel that became the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, talks about the fan backlash the show received at the end of its run.

The political intrigue and magical horrors that plague the realms of Westeros and Essos were chronicled in HBO’s hugely successful adaptation of Martin’s novels, which became one of the most-watched TV shows of all time.
