Their very own Batman has joined Marvel, and we here at Marvel are just as excited as the fans to see the actor in action as the antagonist.

Bale is renowned for the wide variety of roles he takes on. He does it with passion and brings the characters to life, whether he’s playing Trevor Reznik in The Machinist, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, or the Dark Knight. It is all the more thrilling to see him as an MCU antagonist.

The Thor: Love and Thunder actor admitted to Screen Rant that what most appealed to him about the role of Gorr was Taika Waititi’s really strong pitch and the co-stars he would be sharing the screen with.

“For me, it was Taika. I loved Thor: Ragnarok, as did my family. We also all loved Jojo Rabbit, and then I had worked with Natalie and wanted to work with Tessa and with Chris. It comes down to that, really. I just went, ‘Great!’ Loved the script, and loved Taika’s description of the villain. ‘Let’s go do this,” said Christian Bale.

Nevertheless, Bale nearly declined the part before his children compelled him to accept it. The actor claimed, “There were some potential scheduling conflicts. I said to my family, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work out,’ and they went, ‘No, you make it work out. You’re doing this, Dad. ’They gave me my marching orders, and I dutifully obeyed.”
