Unfortunately, all we know at this point is that there will be a second season of Perry Mason. There has been no announcement of a release date for the second season, nor has there been any indication that filming has wrapped.

Matthew Rhys, who plays Perry Mason, told Deadline in May 2021 that the start of filming was “an ever-moving set of goalposts. It’s been moving steadily like an iceberg for some time. And I think we’re just basically looking at winter now.”

More recently, co-star Shea Wigham told Collider that the crew was “about halfway through the second season,” implying that season 2 of Perry Mason may still be some time away.

If we had to make an educated prediction, we’d say summer 2023, which would coincide with the first season’s release date of June 2020.

When it comes to story elements, the team behind Perry Mason season 2 is keeping their cards close to their breast in typical neo-noir way. But, at this point, we’ve unravelled the mysteries as much as we can in order to provide you with some answers.

Perry has found new purpose and is now a full-fledged defence attorney, having founded Mason and Associates alongside Della Street (Juliet Rylance) and detective Paul Drake by the end of the first season (Chris Chalk). Season 2 is likely to follow the same pattern as the first, with the team focusing on just one major case. However, what that case will be remains to be revealed, however there are a number of novels on which the show is based that may provide some clues.

Back in May 2021, star Matthew Rhys also told Deadline “You are picking up where you left off, to a degree, but you’re also beginning something completely new and different. Being the person he is, experiencing the judicial system and its obstacles, I think will be very interesting, hopefully.”

To be honest, it sounds obscure, but Perry Mason appears to have a long path ahead of him. Shea Wigham, Mason’s co-star, told Collider that Mason will be “in the soup again” next season, and that he hopes his character, Strickland, will “help him navigate it.”

Let’s start with something simple. In Perry Mason season 2, Matthew Rhys will reprise his role as the title character. Didn’t think you’d get that one, did you?

Tatiana Maslany, unfortunately, will not be returning for the following season. Due to schedule issues, the actor who played Sister Alice in season 1 has had to leave the show. We believe this has anything to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series She-Hulk.
