Akshay Kumar, in the latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7, Karan Johar hosted actors. When asked if he is harassed, Akshay mentioned being mocked for his Canadian passport throughout the show. Akshay was extensively criticised in 2019 after he registered for Canadian citizenship but did not vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
When Karan asked Akshay if he gets trolled, the actor said he doesn’t spend much time online. He said, “At the most, they write about Canada. Which I don’t care.” Karan then pointed out, “The trolls call you Canada Kumar.” Akshay then replied, “Yeah Canada Kumar. Okay call me that” Karan then questioned Akshay if he gets trolled for doing films with younger actresses, Akshay replied, “They are jealous.” He added, “Why shouldn’t I? I can work with them. Lagta hun kya 55 ka (Do I look 55)?”
Akshay will next be seen in Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon’s Raksha Bandhan. The film will be released in theatres on August 11, 2022. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, and Smrithi Srikanth in addition to Akshay.
In addition to Raksha Bandha, he will appear in OMG 2 – Oh My God! 2. Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Arun Govil will also appear in the film. Selfiee, starring Emraan Hashmi, is also in the works of Akshay. The drama-comedy, helmed by Raj Mehta of Good Newswz fame, is an adaptation of the Malayalam-language comedy-drama Driving Licence, which premiered in 2019.
