Aamir’s  most recent film Laal Singh Chaddha has not performed very well at the movie office. In its first six days of release, the expensive movie which also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya failed to earn more than 50 crore rupees. The movie is the most recent in a long line of Bollywood productions that have recently performed poor at the box office. Actor Madhavan discussed this tendency and the comparative success of films from the south on Wednesday.

Samrat Prithviraj and Shamshera, two high-profile Hindi films from 2022, both struggled at the box office. However, south Indian movies like RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, Vikram, and Vikrant Rona made money in the same time frame. Even Bollywood movies performed worse than the first two films that were dubbed in Hindi.

Actor Madhavan was asked to comment on the disappointing box office results of recent high profile Hindi films, such as Laal Singh Chaddha, at the trailer premiere of his next movie Dhokha – Round D Corner in Mumbai on Wednesday. “If we had known (the reasons Laal Singh Chaddha failed), we would all be producing blockbuster movies. Nobody begins by questioning if we’re doing the right movie. The motivation and effort behind it are equally as passionate as with any movie, whether an actor works on it or not. Therefore, the goal of all the large movies that have been produced is to create a decent movie that succeeds, Madhavan stated reporters.

He further stated that only a few films from the south industries have outperformed Hindi films, refuting the notion that south films are outperforming them. It cannot be referred to as a pattern, the actor claimed. “As far as south Indian movies go, only Baahubali 1, Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa, KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2 have performed better than films starring Hindi cinema actors. Since there have been only six films, we cannot say that a pattern has emerged. The movies will succeed if they are good.

The actor asserted that regardless of the language people would go see movies in theatres if given quality content. He blamed the decline of Hindi films on the shift in audience tastes following the pandemic. “People’s tastes and interests have altered since COVID-19. Because of this he said, “we’ll have to become a little bit more progressive if we make the kinds of movies that people will watch, with the kinds of movies that are emerging today.

Madhavan’s upcoming film, Dhokha – Round D Corner, is being directed by Kookie Gulati. Darshan Kumaar, Aparshakti Khurana, and Khushalii Kumar are also featured in the movie. On September 23, the film will be shown in theatres.
