Ali Abbas Zafar and his crew directed Diljit Dosanjh’s OTT blockbuster Jogi. The film depicts 1984 anti-Sikh violence and the Sikh community’s hardships. In one moment, director Ali Abbas Zafar said Diljit had to cut his hair to influence the film’s essence. The Good Newwz actor played this role in one take without outbursts.

Diljit plays a Sikh who must shave his head amid violence to protect his family and community.

Ali Abbas Zafar told India Today Group, “When Diljit read the script, I asked him, ‘Should we take something out if it’s too rude?'” And he didn’t say anything. He said that what you wrote about what happened is true. He was the one who first told me that this scene is the heart of the movie. This is the biggest thing anyone from this community will give up to save the lives of people from this community. Because of this, that scene became the most important part of the movie.”

The director said, “When I got to the set, I set up my cameras and said, ‘We can’t do this scene three or four times. I’ll only let you do it once.’ ” I told my technical crew that I would only need one take, so they could do whatever they needed to do. Then I told them to lock their cameras and leave.

Ali Abbas Zafar also said that Diljit was very sad when he played that role in the movie.

“Diljit was very sombre. We talked for 5 minutes, and during that time I told him how I wanted him to feel. And I told you that no one could explain it better than you. I can give you a little push, but I don’t want to tell you what to do in this scene. This is your scene, and you need to take charge of it. And Diljit is responsible for everything that has happened in the scene. And talking about the scene makes me feel very sad. There were five or six people, and none of them could look at it. “They were looking down with tears in their eyes because you can only feel what this man is doing when you watch the film,” Zafar told India Today.
