In his new Netflix series, serial killer Jefferey Dahmer, actor Evan Peters has acknowledged that it was “one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life.”

In the book Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the terrible murders of 17 boys and men by the Milwaukee killer between 1978 and 1991 are detailed.

The actor, 35, also said in an interview with Netflix that Dahmer’s horrible past had him “scared” to take on the part, and that he had to visit “dark places” while filming to embody the killer’s thinking.

Evan researched several books and the 1992 police report of Dahmer’s confession while watching the Stone Phillips interview with the genuine murderer to prepare for his role as the famed killer.

The actor also listened to the audio of the murderer speaking to a psychologist or police who was interviewing him. Evan admitted that he was anxious to play the role since it was crucial to give a “genuine” perspective in order to honour the victims’ loved ones.

The fact that it all actually took place, he continued, “was so mind-blowing, that it felt vital to be sensitive to the victims, the victims’ families, and to try and present the tale as accurately as we could.”

‘Honestly, I was extremely afraid about all the things that he did, and diving into that, and trying to commit to it was undoubtedly going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life because I wanted it to be very authentic,’ he continued, describing how difficult the process was.

In light of Netflix’s move in reporting ratings from June 2021, the series aired on September 21 to an audience of 196.2 million, earning the streaming service its best ratings since Stranger Things season four, according to sources.
