Amy Schumer parodies “SNL” The Watcher, a Netflix original

Amy Schumer, the host and comic of this week’s Saturday Night Live, starred in a parody of the recent Netflix series The Watcher. The sketch put a terrifying new Netflix series in an awkward and relatable light.

In the Netflix original film The Watcher, which debuted in October, a couple moves into their dream house only to be haunted by enigmatic letters from a stalker known only as “The Watcher.” Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale appear in the series, which is partially inspired on a 2018 article from The Cut that detailed a real-life instance of long-term stalking that happened in a suburban community.

The truly extremely unsettling notion was given a ridiculous twist in the SNL comedy “The Looker.”

The sketch begins with the recognizable Netflix logo entry and immediately adopts the glossy style that so many Netflix shows share.

Marcello Hernández, who plays the mother’s teenage son in the sketch, and Amy Schumer are joking back and forth while eating pizza in a fun and relaxed manner at the enormous marble kitchen island.

They soon have Chloe Fineman, who plays Schumer’s daughter, join them and crack some jokes about her brother. .

But as soon as the husband, James Austin, discovers a letter written by a stalker only known as “The Looker,” their suburban paradise is broken. The father continues by reading out a few of The Looker’s observations, some of which include the son practicing his guitar and the daughter’s habit of writing about their adorable neighbor.

Even though all of these insights are unsettling, what The Looker witnesses the mother doing is genuinely frightening.

It appears that mom has a few quirks that she might not want her family to be aware of, such as her propensity to eat a second dinner in the middle of the night, her apparent chronic constipation, and her romantic fascination with The Property Brothers.

The mom is adamant that these allegations are untrue, which is surprising given how accurately The Looker described the family members’ routines.

The father then proposes that because their home is obviously insecure, the family spend the night in a hotel.

But the mother is adamant about sticking behind. The mom enjoys some alone time with The Property Brothers at the end of the skit while revealing some of her odd behaviors to The Looker.
