The 41-year-old actress and comedian co-hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time this past weekend. Steve Lacy served as the musical guest for the event.

For more than six minutes in her opening monologue, Schumer made light of her husband Chris Fischer’s autism diagnosis. (The actress previously disclosed Fischer, 42, has the illness in her 2019 Growing Netflix special.)

“It’s been really positive for our family to have him diagnosed. I understand so much more about his behavior, and it’s given him so many tools,” she said, then joking, “Now, if somebody is in the middle of a long, boring story, he will straight up just walk away.”

Schumer also recalled a recent moment she shared with her husband, telling audience members, “A couple of weeks ago, we were sitting outside. It was a nice night. It looked like it was going to rain, and I was feeling kind of sentimental, and I was like, ‘You know, even though these past couple of years with the pandemic and everything has been so stressful, still this time being with you, being with our son, they’ve been the best years of my life.’ “

“And he just looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to go put the windows up in the car,'” the mother of one said in response. “Yeah, that’s my guy. It’s one of the times we play the game — autism or just a man?’ ”

In other sketches on the show, Schumer participated, portraying characters such as a Jets football fan and a gorgeous Twitter bot trying to defend her account from Elon Musk’s ownership of the social media site.

Another scene from the night included Schumer and the SNL ensemble parodying Netflix’s The Watcher, in which a stalker reveals embarrassing information about Schumer’s character to her family.

On October 10, 2015, and May 12, 2018, Schumer served as the long-running weekend sketch comedy program’s host. In October 2021, she last made an appearance during Kim Kardashian’s hosting stint. While Lacy, 24, debuted on Saturday Night Live over the weekend.

Before returning to the stage to play his song “Helmet” toward the end of the show, the star initially sang “Bad Habit” in the show’s opening act. Both songs may be found on Lacy’s Gemini Rights CD.

SNL’s 48th season debuts as the comedy sketch programme navigates a significant cast shakeup. After the season 47 finale, longtime series regulars Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney left the show.

The series also lost Melissa Villaseor, Alex Moffat, and featured player Aristotle Athari, according to PEOPLE’s Sept. 1 confirmation. Then, Chris Redd revealed last month that he was leaving Saturday Night Live after five seasons.

On September 15, NBC announced the names of the four new featured performers that will appear on Saturday Night Live in season 48: Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker.

Season 48 of SNL, according to creator Lorne Michaels, is in a “transition year” because “a different generation comes into the programme,” he said while speaking to reporters backstage at the 2022 Emmy Awards.

On November 12, Dave Chappelle will host SNL once more, with Black Star providing the musical accompaniment.
