Hasan Minhaj had some things to say about how people have reacted to him since he was on Celebrity Jeopardy!

During a sit-down with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show, the host of “The Patriot Act” talked about how angry people were with him for being on the long-running game show.

“I was on Celebrity Jeopardy last week. and now Jeopardy fans! hate me to death, “Minhaj, who is 37, told Fallon, who is 48. “I have a special ability to annoy dedicated nerds.”

Fallon’s crew had made a supercut of Minhaj’s most animated moments, which some Twitter users called “annoying” and “painfully unfunny.” One critic even said that Minhaj was the worst contestant in the history of Jeopardy! history. Minhaj told Fallon, “I was just playing with energy and love.”

“I was into it,” Minhaj stated following the footage. “Hang on the rim.” However, “fans weren’t having it.” “The most obnoxious candidate” was Minhaj’s worst criticism.

“That one stung because, you know, the show’s been running for over 58 years—and they’ve had 15,000 participants. And Dr. Oz was a contestant,” he remarked. The comedian informed presenter Mayim Bialik that Jeopardy! was watching with his father—then said, “Maybe my dad was wrong. He claimed I’d never break records on that programme.”

Minhaj then apologised to Jeopardy! fans, but it failed. From a notecard, he addressed Jeopardy! fans. “I apologise now. Jeopardy! enthusiasts, look. I regret destroying an American institution. I apologise for removing your elderly mouth’s 7 p.m. linear TV pacifier. Most significantly, I apologise for making Jeopardy! entertaining.”
