Kate Middleton is raising people’s awareness about mental health and how kids grow and learn when they are young.

In an opinion on Friday, the Princess of Wales, who is 40 years old, urged people to do “everything we can to nurture our children” in their first five years, which she called the “most preventative years.”

“Over the past 10 years, I’ve talked to many experts about how to deal with social problems like poor mental and physical health, and I’ve become more and more sure of one thing: if we want to create a healthier and happier society for future generations, we must start by understanding and recognizing the unique importance of the first five years of life,” Middleton wrote.

Kate Middleton and Prince William show up together for the first time in three weeks to promote mental health.
She said that during these early years, people build strong foundations that help them do well as adults. Middleton said that homelessness, violence, and drug use all contribute to bad mental health.

“We have a wonderful chance,” she wrote. “With everything we know now, thanks to the hard work of scientists, researchers, and practitioners, we can make a big difference in the mental and physical health of future generations.”
