Kate Middleton wears her first tiara in three years at Buckingham Palace banquet

Princess of Wales Kate Middleton makes her tiara debut.

The 40-year-old royal wore her first tiara in three years for Tuesday’s state banquet. The meal welcomed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to the U.K. during King Charles III’s first state visit.

Princess Kate wore a Jenny Packham gown and Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot tiara.

Princess Diana loved the pearl-and-diamond tiara, too. The Court Jeweler says Queen Mary commissioned the beautiful sparkler from Garrard in 1913 or 1914. It’s a duplicate of Mary’s grandmother’s tiara, Princess Augusta of Hesse.

Kate donned Princess Diana’s earrings for Remembrance Sunday and Queen Elizabeth’s bracelet. She wore the Royal Family order and Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order star and sash.

Prince William wore the Garter Star, the Thistle Star, and three tiny Jubilee medals (Gold in 2002, Diamond in 2012 and Platinum in 2022).

The state visit is the first hosted by the British royal family since then-U.S. President Donald Trump’s 2019 visit.

Kate most recently wore a tiara for the Diplomatic Corps reception in December 2019. She wore the Lover’s Knot tiara, the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, and an Alexander McQueen navy velvet long-sleeve gown.

Queen Camilla donned the sapphire and diamond tiara Queen Elizabeth wore for a 2015 state visit with Xi Jinping. Blue dress matched the headpiece.

Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex (wearing the Aquamarine Necklace Tiara), the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Lady Susan Hussey, and Annabel Whitehead attended.
