  •  Jon Feltheimer made the announcement during an investors’ call.
  • The studio is also “fielding bids” for a video game based on Keanu Reeves.

Production on the Ana de Armas-starring spin-off Ballerina will begin next week, according to sources. There are many solid reasons for John Wick franchise fans to be happy.

During the most recent investors’ call, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer made the announcement. The three-part prequel series The Continental, starring Colin Woodell, will stream internationally on Amazon Prime outside of the US, and the studio is also “fielding bids” for a sizable video game based on the Keanu Reeves movies, so the franchise’s future prospects are promising.

A teenage assassin trained at the ballet school shown in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will be the subject of the Ballerina movie, which was announced to have cast the No Time To Die actor in the starring role.

The plot centres on her pursuit of vengeance against the people who murdered her family. Len Wiseman, who directed Underworld, will lead the film.

Shay Hatten, known for films including Zack Snyder’s Army Of The Dead and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, will write the screenplay.

De Armas revealed in an interview from earlier this year that the script’s last revisions came from a female perspective thanks to Emerald Fennell, the Oscar-winning writer-director of 2020’s Promising Young Woman.

There are currently no further cast members for the revenge-focused movie, so this is really all that is known about it.

In No Time to Die and the recently released Russo Brothers Netflix film The Gray Man, where she co-starred with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, De Armas showcased her action prowess.

The Knives Out actor last appeared in Andrew Dominik’s Blonde, a film adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 novel of the same name.

While the film did not go over well with the audience, De Armas has received praise for convincingly portraying the Hollywood legend in its fictionalized portrayal of her life and career.

There is little doubt that the performer can lead the action franchise given her career’s abundance of beloved significant films like Blade Runner 2049 and Deep Water, among others.

Ballerina will be just as thrilling as the first franchise thanks to actors like Wiseman, Hatten, and Fennell.

The 2014 movie John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, became a huge hit, inspiring two follow-ups: John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

A fourth and fifth film were revealed after Parabellum, which made $326 million worldwide in just 10 days, became the franchise’s highest-grossing movie.

Given the on-screen and off-screen talent in Ballerina, the film can attempt to emulate the popularity of the first franchise.
