Anna Kendrick is collaborating with Netflix on its original crime film The Dating Game.

According to What’s on Netflix, The Dating Game is an upcoming Netflix crime thriller starring Anna Kendrick, in which she also makes her directing debut.

Ian MacAllister McDonald has penned the script for the film. Roy Lee (IT), J.D. Lifshitz (Barbarian), Raphael Margules (The Vigil), and Miri Yoon (The Vigil) join Anna as producers (I Love You, Phillip Morris). AGC Studios is the production company responsible for The Dating Game.

IMDb provides the following plot summary for the film: “Rodney Alcala was a killer in the midst of a killing spree when he brazenly took part and won a date on the popular TV game show The Dating Game.”

Rodney Alcala appeared on a dating show while he was on a 1968-1979 killing spree in which five people were killed.

Cheryl Bradshaw, with whom Rodney Alcala got a date after winning the competition, will be portrayed by Anna Kendrick.

Daniel Zovatto is the only other confirmed actor whose character has not been specified; nevertheless, given that he is the second confirmed actor, it is expected that he will play the notorious serial killer.

On October 31, 2022, production began in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is expected to conclude on March 12, 2023, thus a release in late 2023 or early 2024 is most likely.
