Anoushey Ashraf Visits Scotland’s Edinburgh Castle
Anoushey Ashraf has been working in this field for a long...
Anoushey Ashraf, a Pakistani video jockey and renowned actor, isn’t afraid to speak her opinion, especially when it comes to her beliefs. The VJ revealed some stunning admissions when recalling terrible memories linked with being a star, especially as a woman.
During a conversation with Pakistani singer-turned-comedian Ali Gul Pir, Ashraf revealed her unpleasant and frightening encounter with a stalker. The conversation also focused light on women’s abuse charges and why men must accept responsibility for their acts.
When asked about stalking, Ashraf told Pir, “It was extremely very scary, and I had no alternative but to file a FIR.” I feel like you only hear about it here, but it can happen to anyone.”
“Someone killed someone, someone was outraged and flung acid at someone, or someone kidnapped someone.” It is rare and infrequent, although it does occur. Why do we believe it could not have happened to someone with power?”
“This, after [offering him] four chances and being’very upset.'” They told me not to do it, but I wasn’t doing it for myself. I could have kept a guard or, because I work for a TV station, I could have asked protection. I was thinking, “He’s not going to do this to me, he’ll get rid of me, but what if he does it to another female tomorrow?”
Ashraf remarked that women are unable to fight back when it comes to standing up for themselves.
“And they’re unable to stop it – they’re harassed on buses, in stores, in salons,” Ashraf added. They are unable to advocate for themselves, and no one takes them seriously. Many of their family members blame them for being harassed or stalked, claiming that “you smiled at them – that’s what the guy told the cop.”
“And if I say this, maybe people will say in your show’s comments section when you dress like this and meet men like this, what do you [expect]?” the 39-year-old actress remarked, addressing the victim-blaming mentality. My case dies there and then. They can stalk me and endanger my life, but how can it be their fault when I’m the one luring them? So, where do I go?”
“How can you dispute it?” she asked, adding to her point about believing women. Look about you, you’re in Pakistan. I’ve witnessed people beating up dogs. In this country, there are those who rape children; why would they not beat women? The chances are too stacked in favour of the cause for you not to believe in it.”
When discussing the subject of women being unheard, Ashraf provided an example of a situation in which a friend would be accused and indicated how she would react.
“What will I do if someone thinks Ali Gul Pir did anything tomorrow and you’re buddies with him?” I’ll have to listen to your side of the tale and make my own conclusion, which will be difficult.”
“All we have to do is speak out in support of the cause.” Some girl said that happened to someone very close to me off television, and I told him about it. ‘The least I can tell you in this situation is to come out publicly and apologise,’ I said. “Please forgive me if I have ever bothered or wounded you; I will not be able to forgive myself for making you feel this way,” Ashraf wrote.
The buddies closed their discussion by advising men to accept responsibility for their acts.
As an actor, she has appeared in Sehra Main Safar, Chanar Ghati, and Saanp Seerhi. PONDs, 7up, Loreal Paris, Warid Telecom, and MTV Pakistan have all used Ashraf as a brand ambassador.
