Disney’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever outperformed expectations and won the domestic box office for the fourth consecutive weekend.

The movie increased its domestic gross this weekend by an estimated $17.6 million, bringing it close to $394 million.

By the end of the following week, it ought to surpass the $400 million mark and surpass fellow Marvel sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ $411 million lifetime domestic total.

In anticipation of Avatar: The Way of Water coming out in less than two weeks, the majority of studios decided to skip the weekend.

Thoughtfully placing the action comedy Violent Night between the two Disney titans, Universal was rewarded for its risk.

The movie is anticipated to come in at number two with $13.3 million in its opening weekend and should perform admirably over the holiday season as it offers audiences a break from epic big-screen spectacles.

Before the movie’s opening weekend, an estimated $10 million in revenue was predicted. The Christmas-themed movie, which was directed by Tommy Wirkola and starred David Harbour as a Santa Claus with Viking influences, has also made over $20 million worldwide.

Speaking of worldwide box office totals, Wakanda Forever surpassed $700 million this past weekend and is expected to surpass Thor: Love and Thunder’s $760 million lifetime total by next weekend.

As The Way of Water begins to eat into its audience on December 16, that would essentially be its last opportunity to make as much money as it can.

Wakanda Forever won’t come close to matching the $700 million domestic and $1.3 billion worldwide gross of the first Black Panther movie, even though surpassing Doctor Strange 2’s $955 million lifetime global total is still possible.

Strange World, the most recent animated film from Disney, debuted at number three and failed to recover from a disastrous opening weekend.

The movie’s second weekend earnings are estimated to have totaled $4.9 million, bringing its overall domestic gross to $25 million.

The movie, which reportedly cost $180 million to make, is predicted to cost Disney more than $100 million. There is no polite way to say it, but it’s one of the biggest failures in recent memory.

The Menu by Searchlight and Devotion by Sony took the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. The Menu, a dark comedy helmed by Mark Mylod of Succession, is anticipated to gross $3.6 million during its third weekend of release, bringing its overall domestic gross to almost $25 million.

The movie, which tells the story of a group of affluent people who experience more than they bargained for at an exclusive haute cuisine restaurant, has made close to $50 million worldwide against an alleged $30 million budget.

Devotion, a movie about the Korean War, is failing in contrast, earning only $2.8 million in its second weekend and less than $14 million domestically despite having a rumoured $90 million budget.

Only $56 million was made over the course of the weekend, which is extremely poor.

Even Top Gun: Maverick, Paramount’s re-release of the year’s biggest movie, failed to place in the top ten. Maverick earned $700,000 from more than 1,800 theatres this weekend to come in at number 11, bringing its domestic total to over $717 million.
