Cirkus debuted in India to a pitiful Rs. 6.25 cr. nett, and due to Christmas Day, the picture did not do well on Saturday or Sunday.

The film’s three-day weekend revenue is slightly more than Rs 20 cr, which is comparable to Simmba, Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s final picture together, but lower than Sooryavanshi, Rohit Shetty’s last action blockbuster that helped resuscitate Indian theatres, on its opening day. It is clear that the movie won’t hold up during the workweek because the weekend trajectory was subpar. This weekend, Cirkus had to settle for the second-most popular pick in India, but no one could have predicted the difference would be this large.

Avatar: The Way of Water, directed by James Cameron, had a record-breaking second weekend in India for a Hollywood film, with the second Sunday numbers being double of the second F. The most anticipated and expected Hindi film of 2022 according to exhibitors, Cirkus, starring Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Pooja Hegde, also failed to make an impression at the box office.

On its second Friday, Avatar: The Way Of Water held its fort and brought in revenues that were nearly twice as high as those of its Hindi equivalent Cirkus. The movie had a growth of almost 50% on Saturday and continued to grow on Sunday, with a day 10 gross of over Rs. 25 cr. The movie has a little under Rs 250 crore in net box office revenue after 10 days, which it already surpassed this morning.

This James Cameron film will hold up nicely for one more week before things return to normal after the New Year because of the sticky nature of the period following Christmas and before the New Year. Avatar: The Way Of Water ticket prices have been reduced across most of the nation in order to accommodate a wider audience. Given that the franchise has another twelve movies scheduled to come out over the next 15 years, this could work to the movie’s benefit.

The domestic market is leading from the front as this James Cameron mystic adventure gallops toward the $1 billion mark globally. Although it may be difficult to match Top Gun: Maverick’s domestic performance, its overseas performance puts it in a good position to surpass it at the global box office. Avatar: The Way Of Water has a potential to join that exclusive club, which less than half a dozen films have broken in cinematic history, and one shouldn’t underestimate the longevity of James Cameron pictures, which is why he has two consecutive 2-billion dollar grossers.

Second Friday: 12 crore rupees

Second Saturday: 19.50 crore rupees

Second Sunday: 25.50 crore rupees

Total: Net Rs. 248.50 billion

It won’t be a surprise if Cirkus’ fourth-day box office receipts fall below Rs 3 crore net, since they are predicted to decline by more than 50% from Friday. The Way Of Water from Avatar Due to the film’s acceptance and the post-Christmas holiday season, which lasts all the way through the end of the year, Monday collections may be in the range of Rs. 7 crore net. By year’s end, the elusive Rs. 300 crore nett mark should also be exceeded.
