Mia Wasikowska opened up about the seedy side of Hollywood recently.
The Alice in Wonderland actress, who gained notoriety in the 2000s, recently spoke up in an interview with Sydney Morning Herald about her pivotal years in Hollywood.
The 33-year-old claimed, “I was young, I didn’t know how to protect myself,”
The Australian actress revealed that the majority of newcomers to the field were treated unfairly.
“I think you would be hard-pressed to find any young woman who hasn’t experienced a level of abuse or inappropriate experiences or behaviour towards them,” according to Mia.
“But it’s not really something that I discuss.” the actress remarked.
Mia confessed that she had already left the profession and returned to Sydney to continue playing in regional films before the #MeToo movement gained traction in Hollywood.
The actress said, “I suppose I’ve had less patience for the parts of the industry that I don’t enjoy.
The All Saints actress continued by calling Hollywood repressive and saying, “I don’t care too much to be pushed into an image that will win me employment.”
Mia will be seen in the Australian film Blueback in the meanwhile.
