Nick Carter said it was “difficult to get out on stage” the night after his brother Aaron’s death. On Friday, the Backstreet Boys singer spoke with Extra about his brother’s death and how his bandmates helped him.
“Having my guys beside me was emotional,” the 42-year-old said. “There’s an ancient phrase, ‘The show must go on,’ but I didn’t know what to anticipate that night.” “I didn’t know what would come of going on stage,” he said. The fans’ support meant a lot to me.
The band played “No Place” at the event last month as photographs of the siblings were shown. Cry A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough comforted Nick while Kevin Richardson addressed the crowd.
“We’ve got sorrowful hearts tonight because we lost a family member yesterday,” he stated. Aaron Carter, Nick’s brother, died yesterday. “He’s family.” Nick didn’t speak at the concert but posted an impassioned statement hours earlier.
“I’m brokenhearted.” Despite our rocky connection, I’ve always loved my brother, he said accompanying vintage images. I’ve always hoped he’d choose a healthy route and get help. Addiction and mental disease are the real villains here.
Aaron, 34, was discovered dead in his California bathtub after years of drug abuse and mental illness. Melanie Martin said Aaron “didn’t know how to escape his troubles” and would make bad sober decisions.
Too many people were involved at his end. She said, “They were wrong.” The musician was reportedly found with medications and compressed air near him. Family intends to scatter Aaron’s ashes in the Florida Keys this spring.
