“Every word has meaning. His last words to me were a simple text that says, ‘I love you Dad-Dad,’” Eddy Boss told on Wednesday. “Our question is why? Where did it come from?”

Before Stephen’s tragic death, Eddy, 84, said he spoke with his grandson several times and had not observed any indications that the dancer was having mental health issues.

“We spoke as recently as Saturday on more than one occasion,” he shared. “He was the same happy-go-lucky person that he’s always been. We had no indication that anything was out of the ordinary.”

Eddy added that Stephen “brought light” into everyone’s lives and spoke of how “humble” and “generous” the former “Ellen DeGeneres Show” DJ and producer was.

“We’re completely devastated right now,” he said. “All I can say is he was a beautiful person that contributed so much to this world and to everyone he met in a positive way. We miss him dearly, and we’re hurting tremendously.”

Just a few days before his grandfather’s suicide by self-inflicted gunshot to the head, Stephen had posted birthday wishes for him on social media.

Authorities have confirmed that the body of the “So You Think You Can Dance” alum, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 40, was discovered in a motel room’s bathroom.

Stephen and Allison Holker celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary a few days before he passed away suddenly.

In a moving statement on Wednesday, Holker, 34, lamented the death of her husband.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband, Stephen, has left us,” she said. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him.

“He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

The former “Dancing With the Stars” professional paid tribute to Stephen’s legacy and said his “positive impact” would live on.

“I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory,” she concluded. “We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”

Weslie, 14, Maddox, 6, and Zaia, 3, were the children of Holker and Stephen, who wed in 2013.
