As the release date of Netflix’s upcoming spy series, The Recruit, approaches, the streaming service is ramping up promotion for the Noah Centineo-led series.

The streamer released new footage at the ongoing CCXP in So Paulo, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the series.

Centineo stars as Owen Hendricks, a new CIA lawyer who becomes entangled in a global conspiracy after discovering a letter from a former asset, Max Meladze, threatening to expose the Agency.

In the upcoming series, Hendricks will be forced to deal with twisted politics and powerful criminal forces in his pursuit of the truth.

The series’ tone is set in the newly released clip, which depicts Hendricks’ first meeting with Max (Laura Haddock).

The clip not only shows how new Hendricks is on the job, but it also teases Max Meladze’s seasoned service to the CIA, laying the groundwork for an intriguing dynamic between the two characters.

Centineo, best known for his roles in Netflix teen rom-coms, has recently expanded his resume to include the Dwayne Johnson-led superhero adventure Black Adam and the action-comedy Charlie’s Angels.

While the upcoming series has been viewed as a gritty departure from Centineo’s previous work, the trailer revealed that The Recruit will contain elements of the actor’s comedic abilities.

The series will also provide fans with an alternative to Netflix’s traditional holiday offerings this December.

Vondie Curtis-Hall, best known for his roles as Ben Ulrich in Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix, Dr. Dennis Hancock in Chicago Hope, and Judge Nicholas Byrne in For the People, will star alongside Centineo and Haddock in the upcoming series.

In the series, Curtis-Hall will play Walter Nyland, Owen Hendricks’ boss. Other cast members include Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Daniel Quincy Annoh, and Kristian Bruun, in addition to Centineo and Curtis-Hall. Linus Roache, Angel Parker, Byron Mann, and Kaylah Zander have also been cast in recurring roles on The Recruit.

The production team is equally impressive, with Alexi Hawley, creator and showrunner of the critically acclaimed police procedural series The Rookie, serving as creator and showrunner.

The first season’s directors are Doug Liman, Alex Kalymnios, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr., and Julian Holmes. Centineo, Hawley, Liman, Gene Klein, David Bartis, and Adam Ciralsky serve as executive producers.

The Recruit will be available on Netflix on December 16th. Check out the new footage and synopsis after the jump:

Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo) is a young CIA lawyer whose first week on the job is turned upside down when he discovers a threatening letter from former asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), who threatens to expose the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime. As he travels the world in the hopes of completing his assignment and making a name for himself at the CIA, Owen quickly becomes entangled in a dangerous and often absurd world of power politics and devious players.
