The second case of the Telugu action-thriller series HIT performed well on its opening weekend. The film starring Adivi Sesh made Rs. 21.50 crores in box office receipts, of which Rs. 18 crores came from the Telugu states.

While the lifetime statistics of the first HIT in 2020 are nearly double, the weekend sales are comparable to Adivi’s prior release this year, Major.

With a $850K opening weekend in North America, HIT 2 also performed well internationally. Major made about Rs. 31 crores at the box office worldwide.

The following table details HIT 2’s box office earnings in India:7.75 crores on Friday
Seven crores on Saturday
Weekend: 6.75 crores

Total: Rs. 21.50 billion

Over the course of the weekend, the movie’s box office receipts decreased each day. One factor contributing to this loss was the fact that Sunday sales in urban areas tend to diminish. Despite this, the movie has done the majority of its work, bringing in Rs. 9 crores in Telugu states as opposed to Rs. 13 crores in costs, which should be readily recouped.

The second half of the year is often a low period for Tollywood, and this year was no exception with Karthikeya 2 in August being the final big hit. This has been a poor year for the Telugu cinema industry, with the exception of RRR and those three weeks in August.

Following is a breakdown of HIT 2’s opening weekend box office receipts per region:

Nizam: 9.10 crores rupees (Rs. 4.20 crores share)
Ceeded – 1.60 crores rupees (Rs. 1 crore share)

Andhra: 7.30 crores of rupees (Rs. 3.80 crores share)

TS/AP – 18 crores (Rs. 9 crores share)

Karnataka: 2.30 crores of rupees (Rs. 1 crore share)
India’s North: Rs. 0.50 crores (Rs. 20 lakhs share)
Rs. 70 lakhs each for Kerala and Tamil Nadu (Rs. 25 lakhs share)

India: Rs. 21.50 billion (Rs. 10.50 crores share)
