Austin Butler is recalling the “horror” he had while portraying the famous Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The 31-year-old actor talked about the nerve-wracking process on Monday. “It was just such a daunting thing. And my terror really was my sole guide “He remarked.

The Presley biopic is currently up for three Golden Globe Awards, including best film (drama), best director, and best actor (drama) for Butler, who claimed to have collections of Presley’s voice that he would “listen to every day — his laugh, different songs” for “hours.”

Throughout lockdown, the actor put in a lot of effort with voice, dance, and singing teachers to help him evolve.

“And then once I was allowed to leave the apartment, I would usually wake up every day around 3 or 4 in the morning with this terror,” Butler admitted to Jimmy Kimmel.

Butler’s impersonation gets the Presley family’s approval mark. The late King of Rock and Roll’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, gushed over Luhrmann’s vision and Butler’s performance after being given a private screening in April.
