Shannon stated in a post that was published on the official Instagram pages of both her brother and her father, the illustrious Bruce Lee.

The video Shannon shared included a picture of her brother, who passed away in 1993 following an unintentional shooting while filming The Crow, as well as a passage from the Times’ editorial from the previous day.

The editorial board stated in the snippet Lee published, “The point is that no one has to use any kind of gun on a movie or TV set.” Even though unintentional shootings like this are thankfully uncommon, too many things must go well in order for nothing terrible to happen.

Spencer Parsons, who oversees production at Northwestern University’s School of Communication’s Department of Radio, Television, and Film, was also quoted in Lee’s essay. “Mistakes can be made, and intentionally similar props can be jumbled up, even in the finest of circumstances.”

Baldwin and Rust armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will both be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, it was announced on Thursday by Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and special prosecutor Andrea Reeb. The charges are expected to be officially filed before the end of the month. David Halls, the movie’s associate director, admitted guilt to the charge of careless use of a deadly weapon, according to a press statement from the time.

“After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the Rust film crew,” Carmack-Altwies shared in a statement. “Under my watch, everyone is subject to the law.

In the immediate aftermath of the Rust shooting, Shannon spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how the death of Hutchins was “stirring up a lot of emotions and frustrations” for the her. “There are rules that are supposed to be followed,” she said. “I am certainly not pointing fingers at anyone because that would be the wrong thing to do.”

“But there is no reason for something like this to happen. My heart goes out to Alec Baldwin. I feel for the work he is going to have to do to process this and try to find some measure of peace around it,” Lee added. “And even more so for the family of Halyna Hutchins. It’s having your whole world flip upside down. There should be compassion for all the pain everyone is going through

At the time, Lee expressed her support for the ban on real firearms on Hollywood sets and expressed hope for “meaningful change,” noting that “there is no reason to have a prop gun or a gun on a set that can fire a projectile of any sort in this day and age, with all the special effects that are possible and all of the technology.”

It is not required, and I would love to see some adjustments done across the board in the sector, Lee continued. “I have been talking to my brother’s fiancée about it. I believe that we would love to do more now if we had thought to do it 28 years ago.”
