Buckingham Palace has released additional information about King Charles III’s coronation.
The royal family appears to have started to celebrate the upcoming event, as they took to their official social media accounts on Thursday to excite royal fans, writing: “100 days until the coronation!”
“The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023, the first in a century,” they wrote. The Service will reflect the Monarch’s current role and look forward, while remaining rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry.
“Across the Coronation Weekend, there will be further opportunities for people to come together in celebration of this historic occasion.
“On Sunday 7 May 2023, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle. The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbors and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country on the same date.
“On Monday 8 May 2023, members of the public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.”
