Chris Harrison, a 51-year-old television personality, addressed the backlash from his “infamous” February 2021 interview with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay on the first two episodes of his new podcast The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison.

“I was devastated. I felt rotten. I felt ashamed. I was angry with myself “He confessed. “I felt let down by myself. Being a part of anything terrible, whether it had to dAo with race or anything else, was the absolute last thing I ever wanted to do.”

The former host of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelorette in Paradise also revealed the personal toll the controversy took on him after hosting the ABC franchise for two decades.

“Things spun out of control for a number of reasons and I was sick, sick to my stomach,” he explained. “I lost 20 pounds. I didn’t sleep. I didn’t eat. I was scared to death… It was just one gut-punch after the other, and mentally and physically I deteriorated pretty bad.”

Harrison said that he was not his “usual, articulate self” throughout the interview.

“I didn’t communicate like I usually do. I believe we can all agree on that portion “He revealed. “But in terms of my reputation in the neighbourhood and the show, it hardly made an impact. There were a lot more heinous events and things happening in the world.”

The former presenter, however, said that his “apology was justified because I did slip up and make a mistake.”

Harrison stated that “some cast members” campaigned to take over his hosting duties during the backlash, while others, such as Ben Higgins, Ashley Iaconetti, and Catherine and Sean Lowe, directly contacted him to express their support.
