Gwyneth Paltrow claimed that having kids can make or break a marriage.

In the most recent episode of her “Goop” podcast, the 50-year-old actress sat down with Katy Perry to discuss relationships in general, including how much they change when children are involved.

It strains relationships. With a grin, Paltrow continued, “Like I’ve looked back on like the data set of parents with young kids and it just… damages the relationship. It’s incredibly difficult!

Perry acknowledged that relationships change after having children, but she asserted that as long as partners are on the same page, they can get through the challenging years.

The “Teenage Dream” singer stated, “I think it’s going to be so much easier if both people in the relationship are prepared to do the effort.”

“But it’s going to be incredibly difficult if one individual thinks they don’t have any work to do,” she continued.

Apple, age 18, and Moses, age 16, are the two teens Paltrow and her ex-husband Chris Martin have as children. Isabella, 18, and Brody, 16, are two children from her now-husband Brad Falchuk’s first marriage.

The two ladies concurred that being a mother has been one of their life’ greatest rewards, despite its obstacles.
After having her (Apple), Paltrow said, “I never felt lonely again, although I had felt tremendously lonely in my life.”

Perry, who has a daughter named Daisy, 2, with Orlando Bloom, echoed her sentiments, claiming that up until she was shown the unwavering love of a kid, she “felt totally lost” and like everything she did “wasn’t enough.”

Paltrow is able to look back and think about some of her biggest “regrets” as a stepmom now that she is almost an empty nester.

On an earlier episode of the podcast, Paltrow advised Falchuk, “If someone asked me for advice on it, I would just say from day one, just really treat them like your baby.” “I only regret not doing that sooner,”

The Emmy winner continued by claiming that she approached her new duty with “trepidation” and was hesitant to “love” or “punish” Falchuk’s teenagers.

The co-creator of “Glee” praised his wife for developing a relationship with his children “outside of” him and for creating a setting where they felt at ease asking her for “advice.”

Just two years after her divorce from Martin was legally finalized, the couple was married in September 2018.
