‘Hey, Brad Pitt’ Quinta Brunson while accepting ‘Abbott Elementary’ GG’23
Quinta Brunson, who created the hit television series Abbot Elementary, Graciously acknowledged...
Emma D’Arcy and Milly Alcock, the stars of the television series, joined the director Miguel Sapochnik on stage to accept the accolade. He requested a round of applause for the actors, who were “wonderful.”
Sapochnik, 48, also made light of the fact that he was not properly suited for the event because he was missing a tie. As you can see, we did not believe we would succeed, therefore I did not prepare, he admitted.
He went on to express his love for one of House of the Dragon‘s fellow nominees. “I’ve got to say, Severance is awesome,” Sapochnik said. “I love that show. If I could’ve made House of the Dragon like Severance, I would’ve, but it would’ve been a bit weird.”
The producer and director, who had previously worked on Game of Thrones, also expressed gratitude to HBO, saying the it “sort of trusted us with their golden goose.” Hopefully it was worthwhile.
In the end, Sapochnik was happy that viewers of the first series were happy with the new one. When we had the premiere in Los Angeles, he observed, “I realised that instead of being eager and then getting aroused, what everyone did was they had this sensation of relief.” And because Game of Thrones was such a great show, it made me feel incredibly wonderful to know that we had truly cut its feet.
House of the Dragon’s award comes after the fantasy drama’s debut season on HBO.
Set roughly 200 years before Game of Thrones’ eight-season arc, House of the Dragon is another tale about the endless struggle to determine who gets to occupy the Iron Throne. This time, though, the HBO show focused on the squabbles within the house of Targaryen, the dynasty that will ultimately produce Game’s Daenerys Targaryen.
