Following a fatal shooting incident, the Rust film production business has reportedly agreed to pay a $100,000 fine to an occupational health and safety commission.

Following the passing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021, the production company for Alec Baldwin’s movie will be paying $100,000 (£83,711) to the New Mexico Environment Department’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau (OHSB).

According to the reports, the bureau already fined the production business $136,793 (£104,810) in April of last year, the highest permitted by New Mexico state law.

According to the settlement, which is still subject to approval, the bureau dropped its claim from a “wilful-severe” breach to a “serious” infraction, according to the Daily Mail.

Rust Movie Productions’ attorney, Melina Spadone, senior counsel at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, stated, “We are pleased to have entered into an agreement with OHSB, subject to approval, which downgrades the citation and reduces penalties.

“Our top priority has always been resuming production and completing this film so we can honor the life and work of Halyna Hutchins.

“Settling this case rather than litigating is how we can best move forward to achieve that goal.”

In the meantime, Baldwin, 64, entered a not-guilty plea to two counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Hutchins’ passing on Thursday.

An undetermined date will be scheduled for the actor from 30 Rock to appear in court for a preliminary hearing that will decide whether or not the case will proceed to trial.
