Ben Affleck’s latest movie, Air, was screened on Saturday at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival in Austin. The actor from Goodwill Hunting fervently hopes the endeavor is a success. “Tonight is the most crucial night of my professional life,” Affleck proclaimed on stage.

“This is an uplifting, hopeful movie about individuals. I can not use my status as an auteur to get away with not wanting people to comprehend my film. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. No pressure, but it is entirely up to you. In the movie Air, which details Nike’s development of the Air Jordan shoe line, Affleck not only directed it but also starred in it.

Matt Damon plays the Nike executive behind the Michael Jordan shoe deal in the movie Air. Affleck portrays Phil Knight, CEO of Nike. Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, and Chris Messina are also featured in the movie. The movie’s co-star and longtime friend Matt Damon referred to his involvement as “the greatest job I have ever had.”

Damon stated, “I showed up every day and had five to seven [script] pages to do opposite actors like this. I had never enjoyed myself more. It was pure joy for Ben and me from the first moment we read [Alex Convery’s] script to the very last cut we did in the edit.

The actress Viola Davis, whom Affleck referred to as “the best performer I have ever seen,” also discussed what it means to her to play Jordan’s mother. “Deloris and my mother were raised in a generation whose aspirations were their children. The Jim Crow era is at its height. It is at its worst when Black people are taught that their dreams are unimportant. She has so far believed in her huge vision for her son.
