Drew Barrymore acknowledged as she looked back on her recovery process that she still worries about losing her career and going back to jail. Barrymore, 48, said she has a memory from her youth that she can not shake.

She said of her stay in treatment, “I will always have the ‘They are coming, they are coming’ mentality. She recently spoke with the Los Angeles Times and stated “That is the one thing, sadly, that I can not get rid of. I have a good feeling that this will all end soon, that I will go back to jail, and that I will be fired.”

The performer was only 13 years old when she was first admitted to rehab, but against medical recommendation, she left the center two months later. After leaving the rehab, the actress stole her mother’s credit card and started doing drugs. Private operatives hired by her mother then detained Barrymore and brought her back to the clinic.

She has been transparent about how her sobriety has changed over time. Yet as a coping technique following her disastrous marriage to Will Kopelman, which ended in 2016, she once more developed an alcohol addiction. She acknowledged that things got so bad that her therapist decided to stop seeing her.

Barrymore stated, “He just said, ‘I can not do this anymore. “Really, it had to do with my drinking. “I got it,” I replied. I have never had greater respect for you. I am not getting better, as you can see. And I hope that one day I can regain your faith.” Barrymore and her therapist finally got together after two years of separation. The actress claims that she is now able to declare, “I do not stay stuck.”
