Pakistani drama ‘Kuch Ankahi’ releases its new Romantic OST
Kuch Ankahi is a lighthearted look at inheritance issues in Pakistan. It...
Kuch Ankahi wins the internet once more, and this time it’s for emphasising the significance of Nikahnama clauses. Kuch Ankahi, a Kashf Foundation production, is already a weekend favourite due to its forward-thinking plot. The drama is already subtly addressing a number of themes while weaving a family saga in which each character has a certain place.
The eventual wedding of Saima is the main focus of Kuch Ankahi’s Episode 11. We are aware of the backstory and how vile Samiya’s (Mira Sethi) mother-in-law is portrayed by Asma Abbas. Then during the Nikkah, Samiya’s mother-in-law applauds Molvi Sahab’s idea to remove provisions from the Nikahnama (relating to the right to divorce, alimony, child custody, etc.).
However, the clauses are allowed for the bride’s advantage, and Samiya’s family demands that they remain to be in place. And drama enthusiasts adored it!

Kudos to team Kuch Ankahi for such an excellent drama & raising awareness for this issue in particular. The right of divorce is a clause in Nikah form that everyone including girl’s family are are upon ignoring. It protects a woman in marriage, specially in our patriarchal culture pic.twitter.com/bi0qRrwhuS

After a while, it’s refreshing to see something progressive on screens. Love triangles, oppressed and vamp women and women who pursue married men in dramas are almost too much for us to handle. There are numerous other issues that dramas and soap operas should have emphasised.
