Olivia Colman, the Oscar-winning British actress, will play the terrifying Miss Havisham in the limited series.
The BBC’s most recent adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations retells the story with a few changes.
The story revolves around an orphan boy who is adopted by a wealthy old woman whose life is turned upside down by a failed relationship.
Olivia Colman (The Crown) is portrayed in a murky wedding gown with a disorderly veil in the Great Expectations teaser. Miss Havisham is portrayed as having bad teeth and a despondent expression.
The scene shows Miss Havisham’s first meeting with Pip (Fionn Whitehead), where she says: “What a prized creature we have fished from the river”.
Stephen Knight, the creator of the hit TV show Peaky Blinders, wrote the series. On March 26, 2023, it will premiere on FX on Hulu.
Cast Fionn Whitehead as Pip, Ashley Thomas as Jaggers, Johnny Harris as Magwitch, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Estella, Hayley Squires as Sara, Owen McDonnell as Joe, Trystan Gravelle as Compeyson, and Matt Berry as Mr. Pumblechuck join Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham.
