Steven Knight, the author of Peaky Blinders, will pen the script for an unnamed future Star Wars film.

According to Variety, the new was written after the departure of the initial screenwriters.

After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, the movie is expected to be among Lucasfilm’s first Star Wars productions.

Veteran screenwriter Steven Knight also penned and directed the movies Locke and Hummingbird in addition to writing the screenplays for the movies Closed Circuit, Dirty Pretty Things, and Eastern Promises.

Knight is also one of the three authors of the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which has been remade and broadcast in about 160 nations worldwide. But he is best known and adored for the BBC series Peaky Blinders.

Taika Waititi’s project, in which he is likely to star, and Shawn Levy’s upcoming movie are among the Star Wars projects that are reportedly still in development at Lucasfilm. Levy has also committed to helm Deadpool 3 and finish production on the Netflix limited series All the Light We Cannot See, which he co-created with Knight.
