Shraddha Kapoor addresses Stree 2 credit controversy: ‘The Audience Decides’
She praised the director, writer, and producer for developing a strong sequel....
Shraddha Kapoor’s impressive filmography often brings Aashiqui 2 to mind, the film that made her a household name and won audiences over with her innocence and charm. Though more than a decade has passed since its theatrical release, fans continue to hope for an expansion of the Aashiqui franchise, especially when Shraddha and Aditya Roy Kapur reunite. Now, the actress has finally shared her thoughts on the possibility of Aashiqui 3.
At the Summit 2024, Shraddha Kapoor discussed her professional journey and her blockbuster film “Stree 2”. When the conversation turned to the 2013 musical drama “Aashiqui 2”, directed by Mohit Suri, she was asked about the possibility of a sequel. The “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” actress responded candidly, saying, “Not that I know of.”
She further stated that “if the makers thought of a sequel, they would think of something very interesting for the third installment. She also acknowledged the fact that Aashiqui 2 gave her a lot of love and appreciation. It’s the film that changed everything for her, she expressed.”
Kapoor shared her thoughts on “Aashiqui 3”, expressing confidence that the team would create something truly amazing for the film. She added, “If it’s a challenging role for me as an actor, something different for me to explore, I would be open to it,” elaborating on her interest in the project.
Years after her 2010 acting debut in “Teen Patti”, “Aashiqui 2” brought Shraddha Kapoor widespread recognition. Since the pandemic, she has had only two releases, leaving her fans eager for more. When asked why is she so selective about the projects that come her way, the actress told “I think I have the clarity now that I only want to be part of films that really excite me, and also the audience.”
She continued, “The audience also has a certain expectation of the kind of films that I do and should be doing and the kind of characters I am playing. Jab tak woh feeling nahi aati na ki iss film ka hissa banna hai aur yeh character play karna hai (till I don’t get the feeling of being part of a movie or playing a character), till then, I am ok to wait for the absolute right film and right character to come my way.”
